This past weekend the NZ Nationals were held at Lake Kaniere in the South Island.

For the third straight year Luke Sharp in Promt Part won the NZ Formula One title, with Anthony Robinson (Design Windows) in second and Malcolm Jamieson (KRB Racing) in third. Malcolm went on to claim the four round 2012 NZF1 Powerboat Tour. With Luke Sharp in second and Anthony Robinson in third. This series is only looking to get stronger after an amazing first season.

The NZ GP title was won by Mike Harvey in Aquanaut with Jeff Price second and John Ryan third. Raymond Hart piloted The Boss for the second time. With six race starts and six race finishes Peter Knight’s GP Hydroplane was looking strong, along the way winning the Kaniere Electric Cup and a second in the King of the Nationals.

Racing at Mangere Bridge has been called off for the day because of high winds.

That has to be the best race we’ve seen all summer! Heat 1 off the 2012 Masport Cup: 1st Annihilator 3, 2nd ARB, 3rd Fair Warning

Mangere Bridge, Auckland will be hosting the 2012 Masport Cup tomorrow. The plan is to race Saturday as that is when the weather is looking the best. Rumour has it that there will be 4 GP Hydroplanes racing! Be There! Entry is free and the best viewing is from Kiwi Esplanade, Mangere.

Grant Harrison is the new EC Griffith Cup Champion after what was a eventful day on and off the track. After a heat 1 disqualification of GP1 and Fair Warning the both of them were reinstated to their first and second placing with Steve Mathieson in Midnight rounding out the top three. The four boat Annihilator team were two boats down before the racing had even started, with Warwick Lupton and Chris Picard having to return to Waverly after Saturday’s storm caused a lot of damage to their farms. This left David Alexander and Ken Lupton to take the battle to the other teams. Sadly for the both of them things didn’t go their way with two dnf’s in the first heat. Heat two of the EC Griffith Cup saw a strong showing from J Michael Kelly in The Boss as he took a second place finish behind Grant Harrison, who in turn became the new EC Griffith Cup champ, taking the trophy back to Australia.

Scott Coker was going to do all he could to keep the AE Baker in New Zealand and that he did with a win in heat one over Midnight and Helter Skelter. Gp1 after having problems getting to the start line of heat one looked to have heat two all under control but all Scott Coker  had to do was finish to take the AE Baker back to Otorohanga.
