1st December - BOB WARTINGER SEMINARS The NZ Powerboat Federation in association with the UIM has arranged for Bob Wartinger to visit New Zealand in the New Year to present seminars on powerboat racing safety and medical issues. For those of you who don’t know who Bob is. He is the President of the UIM Safety and Medical Commission since 1990 and Chairman of the American Powerboat Association Safety Committee since 1996. He constantly studies safety as related to powerboat racing. He takes a systematic approach and examines the variables involved from the time a person decides to race through to an incident and rescue. He explores the possibilities of preventing potential incidents by making changes further up the safety chain. In addition to the safety considerations that will be discussed, there will be a number of ideas on how to improve a race team’s performance because many of the safety related ideas are directly related to improved driver performance on the race course. Bob is a contributing member of the International Congress of Motorsport's Science. Members include Formula 1, Nascar and most motorsport's associations. He is arguably the most qualified person in the World on safety and medical issues relating to powerboat racing. He has been interviewed by the BBC, Discovery Channel, CNN, History Channel, National Geographic Channel, NBC affiliates, NY Times, Aviation Week and a number of other periodicals. Apart from all that, Bob is a current extremely active powerboat racer himself. He has won three World Championships, 24 US National Championships and set 122 World Speed records including the current Outboard World Speed Record of 284 kph (176.5 mph). We have organised two seminars. first will be at the: Auckland Coastguard Mechanics Bay Monday 2nd February at 5.30pm and the second at: Cambridge on 6th February at 9.30 am At the Riverside of Cambridge Motor Lodge and Conference Centre 7 Williamson St Cambridge. Each seminar will run for 3 ½ hours. Entry will be by ticket sale and the cost per person will be $20 to cover the cost of the rooms, equipment hire and refreshments that will be provided. Numbers will be limited to 120 people. It is strongly recommended that all race drivers, crew, race boat builders, rescue personnel and anyone else who has an interest in the sport attend. Further information can be found on Bob at: http://www.americanchallengewsr.com/bob_wartinger.htm To obtain a tick please visit the following page link at ![]()
5.00pm Yarrawonga Gold Cup was won by Warlord after a great battle over two laps with Ken Lupton that was ended too soon when Kens Prop let go a blade and caused major damage to the rear of the Boat. ![]() The point at which the damage occured ![]() The boats are on the ship home in 10 days so Tom Heffernan will be a busy man.
5.15pm Apologies for the delay had to attend the prize giving Warwick Lupton won a very dramatic and exciting Final beating home Ken Lupton and Dean Gleeson in Kryptonite next came Aussie Connection and Warlord and Image . Grant Harrison had a DNF while just ahead of Warwick on Lap 2. David Alexander broke his Canard Wing and that damaged the Rudder and did not finish. Ken Lupton had issues when his Trap door broke open and that made him slow down on the Last Lap. Warwick Lupton's hole repair only just managed to hold with the plate pealing off the back of the repair. The team is now packing up and will be
at the official prize giving at the Ski Club in the Early evening. EC

29th November - EC Griffith News 8.30am aussie time ![]() The Teams are hard at work on setting up the spare engines for the morning Practice. The Course is being set up as very short and tight should be quite a challenge for the big GP hydro's to handle. wont be to much picture updates today but will endeavor to post times and results ASAP. 29th November - EC Griffith News 5.30am aussie time Its 5.30 in the morning the birds are singing always a good sign of good weather bit to dark to see what the clouds are might be like but no rain and wind yet. We will be heading to the Pits at 7am when they open and getting stuck into preparing the Boats. heats will be starting sometime after 2.30pm so there's a fair bit of inactive for the GP boats plenty of other racing on and a couple of races the GP boats can enter if they want to. Its possible some may choose to do this simply to see how the boats handle race conditions and keep the big engines warm. The GP engines have over 8 litre's of Oil in them which is why you see them warm them up on the shore before going out on the water. 28th November - EC Griffith News ![]() Grant, Link and Warwick discuss the Props available for Annihilator GP007 Tonight at the Mulwala Ski Club the draw was made for tomorrows 3 Heats to decide the Top 8 boats into the Final.

The only issue the Team had was when Warwick changed to his second engine to give it a test they have had to change the Mag on the Engine. Weather started out hot and fine right up to the scheduled Practice start time of 1pm when a good steady Drizzle set in for the duration of Practice. ![]() Elizabeth Wolfe from America here to run in a 1.6lt Hydro had a chat with Warwick and David from the Annihilator Team ![]() ![]() Grant Harrison took GP1 out for just a few laps.
