Round 3 of Offshore was held at the Sunday at 11.30am it was rather wet and cloudy but otherwise a Good race.
Click the Logo below to see results and Images from the day.

1st March - News

The Offshore Race meeting at Maraetai for today has been postponed until 11am tomorrow. The weather was just too dangerous to race in with strong swells and driving rain making visibility impossible.

29th February - EC Griffith Cup Cancelled/Postponed

The EC Griffith Cup has been cancelled or postponed possibly until June/July?.
More details will be made at as soon as we hear something concrete.

The reason given is a lack of Water with the Lake at Yarrawonga currently at 76% and they say this may be unsafe for racing. Cant see them getting any water soon either so perhaps a new venue for the EC Griffith Cup needs to be Found.
We appreciate that those with Air Tickets will need to know as soon as possible in case they want to change the tickets.

27th February - Auto X Show Christchurch

AutoX is in its early days and trying to move from a car show to be the “Big Boys Toys” of the south. With most of the other New Brighton boys getting ready for the next round of nationals Bex and Jeff Price were in a position to put their boats in the show even though they are unable to race this year. As you can see winter has given Thirsty a new paint job and sponsor as well as Malcolm giving the motor a birthday. Strangely enough the ski boat attracted as much interest as the tunnel over the two days. Next year we hope to have some water available to be able to start them in and spray some water around. Fingers crossed we can get back racing next year!! .

It is not Known at this point weather the club will reschedule or not at this point. The placement of the NI F2 & NI UU Titles will also be decided at a later date.

14th February - Paul Burton RIP

Paul Burton(left as Owner) and Brett Niddrie receive the EC Griffith Cup in 2007

It is with deep sadness that Paul Burton passed away on Sunday 10th February peacefully after a long illness.

Paul was a great person and a very good Grand Prix Hydroplane Driver campaigning Radical Rat, Big Chief and more recently Warlord and was very well respected amongst his fellow competitors here in New Zealand and Australia. It was an honor to have known you Paul and very unfair that they should take such a good person , you will always be in our thoughts, rest in peace.

Our deepest sympathies goes out to Paul's family and his friends at this time.
