25th February 4.10pm - Masport Cup

Ken Lupton Decided
to run in the South Island Unlimited/Unrestricted Title today and simply
Annihilated the opposition to win both heats with Ease.
The Opposition included The F1 Tunnels of KRB, California Girls, The Advocate, Flat Out, Sierra, and the GNH of Fair Warning & Terminator.
Ken lead both the races from start to finish and said his Boat was Performing Well and looked forward to the Masport Cup Tomorrow.
Today's Boat Racing flowed smoothly and was all over by 3.45pm as a
Wedding was planned for the Lake at 4.00pm. I will post some pictures

Ken Beats World Champion Warwick
Their was no Mobile
Service available at the Lake with many Phones out of commission as well
so a brief update before Prizegiving and a substantial update first thing
tomorrow Morning.
Ken Lupton has defended his New Zealand title defeating the consistent
Malcolm Jamieson in KRB In Heat One it was all over for Warwick at the
start as the boat hit a rough patch of water and broke his Blower Belt.
Malcom Jamieson stormed to the lead and was slowly run down by Ken Lupton
and David Alexander who managed to just pip KRB on the line in a tight
finish for Second. There was a lengthy delay between Heats for the Crew
but sadly David Alexander was unable to compete anymore to day with another
crack in the Belly pan needed fibre glassing. He will be running tomorrow
however.
Heat Two and it was a big battle between Warwick Lupton on the Outside
and Ken Lupton on the inside which went right down to the line and neither
driver would admit who Won so officially we are not sure until Prizegiving
very soon.
I will do an update of all the Class winners Tonight or early This Morning.
Unofficially
Grand National Winner is Darryl Friend in Terminator
Modified Hydroplane winner is Alan Lewis in Little Cracker
Mod VP Southern Storm??
Formula 3 winner is Geoff Morrish in Sinister.

February 2006 - AE Baker

Arthur Baker
presented the AE Baker Trophy to David Alexander in Annihilator 2.
A field of consisting of Annihilator, Annihilator 2, GP55, Wasp, Renegade
& Terminator faced the starters gun for Heat 1 of the AE Baker. David
Alexander stormed to the front and held off a strong Challenge from
Warwick Lupton and it looked like these two boats would continue the
battle in heat 2. Heat 2 got under way with only 4 boats as the two
Aussie contenders Wasp and GP55 were unable to make it out in time.
When the race started Warwick and David headed in to Turn one but only
David came out after Warwick Stopped with a problem.

February 2006 - UIM World Championships

Image from Terry Mac
The World
Champs were won in style by Warwick Lupton, Warwick's Boat ran strong
all Day wing the first two heats before just being pipped in the
3rd Heat by David Alexander. In Race 1 GP55 Paul Cunningham stormed
to a lead at the start and was hard chased by Warwick Lupton who
would match and pass Paul on the Straights but lose out in the corners
to the more Nimble GP55 who looked like taking the win until he
broke down on the very last turn just 300 metres from the Finish.
Paul would bounce back to record a strong third in heat 2 but would
break down just before the start of Heat 3.
Aussie Boat Mathemagic and Ian Bryant Broke there Engine on the
first Lap and were out for the rest of the Day as there Spare engine
was destroyed during a rebuild in the middle of the week.
David Alexander in Annihilator 2 broke a throttle cable and was
out of the race on lap 2 but would storm back to post a second to
Warwick Lupton in race two and score an upset win in a very close
finish over Warwick in Race 3.
Scott Coker in Fair Warning battled well in all 3 races and finished
the Championship in 5th place.
Bobby Fisher in Wasp was a gallant 3rd in the Championship after
scoring a 3rd, 4th, & 3rd in the heats, The Wasp was very reliable
and fast but wasn't sitting on the rough water too well so he couldn't
Push as hard as he would have liked. Ken Lupton had a good race
in Heat 1 and drove hard to beat Wasp to the line but damage to
the Engine in Heat 2 saw him out for the Day.
Dragula's Tom Heffernan had a good 4th place in Heat 1 but sadly
his gearbox let go in the second heat and he was out for the day.

Connection I had this afternoon made Updates Impossible
5th February 6.15pm - Update

easy Victory due to the hard days Racing taking its toll on many
of the Entrants.
Warwick Lupton took out the Eaton UIM World Grand Prix Hydroplane
Championship with a commanding points lead as all opposition except
Wasp's Bobby Fisher failed to complete all races.
Dustin Echols took home the UIM 2.5 Modified Hydroplane Championships

Heat
1 Modified Hydroplane

The first round of the UIM 2.5 Modified Hydroplane Championships
was a hard fought affair with the Boats having to set the fastest
time in Order to get the points for Finishing.
Points were Awarded to the fastest boat from the two heats,
Dustin Echols Miss Silver Clouds Inns who has 400 Points and
leads the championship.
Points are awarded so on down the list which gets a bit confusing
at times. Confused the officials for a fair while too.
The draw for the Second heat was made with the odd Placed Boats
going in Heat 2a and the even placed boats going in Heat 2b.

5th February 2006 - 12.55pm - UIM World Champs

It was
a good start on the Grand Prix Boats Heat one with Fair Warning
starting out Wide and not in the above shot.
GP55 lead away from the start and was only just holding off Warwick
Lupton. On the last turn though Paul's Boat broke down and Warwick
inherited the Lead, from Ken Lupton and Bobby Fisher with Tom
Heffernan just a few seconds back in a close battle.
5th February 2006 - 9.30am - UIM Worlds

Its shaping
up to be a very busy Day today at the Lake which may well be hotter
than yesterday. American Dustin Echols is looking strong in the UIM
2.5 Modified World Championship and Warwick Lupton
is looking strong in the GP finals although Paul Cunningham Bobby
Fisher are also looking very good.
Results for GP should be up within Ten Minutes of race finish barring
Problems.
All Results on This site are Unofficial until Officially Stated.

K en Lupton is hoping things go better today |

Tom Heffernan is using a new rudder and turn Fin |

Warwick Lupton Is very happy with his Boat |

Paul Cunningham should be reliable as ever |

David Alexander looks strong but bad luck continues to haunt
him |

Bobby Fisher ran a lot of Laps Yesterday |

Wasp looks good tends to get a bit light though down the straights |

David Had a Large Plate come off his inside sponson and it destroyed
his Rudder but didn't damage the Prop. |

February 2006 11pm - UIM World Championships

The World Champs
will feature Ken Lupton who has a dedicated Crew who rebuilt his Boat
after getting some parts from Selwyn Coker's Workshop as you can see
the Gearbox was a mess but the good news is the boat is back on the
water and ready to go the engine does have some damage from the over
revving but should hold together
4th
February 2006 2.20pm - UIM World Championships

The World Champs
could well be short of One Competitor Tomorrow with Ken Lupton Suffering
some Major Damage to the Mechanicals in his Annihilator 3 Boat. Kens
Boat blew a Gearbox and when that happened he broke the blower belt
damaged his Steering and the Motor may have some damage with Over Revving.
The Team assuming the Engine is Ok can repair most parts bur the Big
concern is the Coupling to the Gearbox which is destroyed and they do
not have another Coupling so they will look to Make one Tonight as the
Annihilator Teams never Give Up.

happen I will come and Update. Otherwise it should be a Quiet Day.
