GP Hydroplanes - Wanganui Regatta
03 Feb 08 09:00am Wanganui River, Wanganui
NZ's fastest powerboats racing on the Wanganui River is an amazing spectacle. Watch live as the GP Hydroplanes and the Formula One boats square off against each other in a flying lap competition. With speeds of up to 280kmph these GP Hydroplanes and Formula One power boats are a spectacular site against a backdrop of the beautiful Wanganui river.

Click on the Speedbox.tv logo above to learn how to watch the entire Sunday Regatta live on your Computer. Sorry Dial up users but Broadband speeds are required to view the racing. I have seen the Jetsprint Coverage and its a very good system.

31st January - Marine Paramedical Services

You can still come if you are quick. It is only $55.00 a head to register and that cost includes Luncheon, Wine and beer, Free Gate Passes and a souvenir Programme.

29th January - Taupo Offshore Regatta

Formula One Ace Steve Hughes was let loose at the controls as Co-Driver of the Perry Morris Super Lites Boat High Impact on Sunday. Its big difference in the to the Formula One Boat being a good 20mph slower and not quite as nimble in the turns. The big difference though is Vision and trying to predict the swells ahead. The High Impact team finished 4th in Class

28th January - Taupo Offshore Regatta

Circuit Racer John Hercock took Sassy Red to Taupo for the Offshore Race on Sunday.
Disappointingly they had a breakdown which cost them valuable time and lost at the very least a Lap to the field which saw them miss out on a top 3 placing in Class.

When an offshore boat is broken down on the Course they need to raise a Flag to signal other boats where they are. I'm pretty sure though that the use of a Pirate flag would be a first in Offshore Racing

20th January - Manawatu GoldCup

Fire Security Services Looks the part behind a Classy Panel Van
Manawatu Goldcup Meeting has been Called off completely without a Race being Run.
The Wind is far too strong blowing directly down the Course making Racing too dangerous for the Boats

It was a shame for the Manawatu Club which always manages to run a good weekend.

19th January - Manawatu Goldcup

Its a very Windy day at the Goldcup and frankly i find it hard to believe that there will be a let up in the wind today. If there is some racing this afternoon I will update that info Tonight. Otherwise its fingers crossed for a good day tomorrow.

The only Boats to hit the water today were Jamie Knight "The Phantom" and Dale Pendergast "Suzie IV" and both thought it was way to rough to run resulting in the regatta being Canceled for the Day and The Bar was declared open at 2pm.
Racing will hopefully get underway at the crack of Dawn on Sunday with a Large Programme to squeeze in.

I think Warwick was suggesting I shouldn't put this on the website??
Far too windy here for me to be sure though eh!

Annihilator Race team has seen the light and ventured into Outboard Racing by the looks of this 1750 Bullet purchased this morning.

The Boat will be used as the Start Boat at Downtown and of course skiing on the Farm every other day. But you would think the temptation to get out and race in either the ModVP or Formula V Class would not be out of the Question.

Make a dam fine Photographers Boat too eh Warwick.

Tom Hefernan will be bringing his Grand Prix Hydroplane "Dragula" to New Zealand this Summer for Racing.
Tom Last came over two years ago but didn't have a very good run spinning the boat at Downtown and then blowing a Gearbox in the 2006 World Champs. The Dragula Grand Prix Boat will use the racing in NZ to prepare for the Griffith Cup held at Yarrawonga, Australia in April 5th - 6th
