28th January - Karapiro Regatta

Its time to start focusing on Karapiro This weekend not a lot of time between events but it should be a cracker meeting with a large number of South Island Competitors coming up for the 1st round of the Nationals.
Programme is something along these lines at the Moment.

Check out my Gallery Page Link below for Pictures of the Downtown Regatta
only a few at the moment, but will add some each night

28th January - Downtown Regatta

The Race at the end between David and Malcolm was a cracker sadly ended when the blower belt broke on David's Boat on the third lap the only downside was the Public wanted to know why they couldn't do this all the time. David would catch Malcolm and pass on the Straights and they would be neck and neck into the the turns with Malcolm a good 100 metres ahead after the turn. I say next year we race the Big Boats like this that would be sure to keep the Aussie's away.

28th January - Downtown Regatta

You usually don't get a good view of the Eyes on Warwick's Wing when he is racing from ground Level but Warwick Kindly obliged with this shot. one of a series that happened as a Aluminium Plate peeled off and acted as a ski for a wild ride in his first timed run. Warwick's entire weekend turned to Custard with his last run probably suffering a faulty Magneto we hope. It just means that he has used up his bad luck now we hope and bring on the Next 3 Meetings.

Ironically David(except one Blower Belt)and Ken didn't break a single thing so how rare is that.
Grant Rivers will certainly be a Busy man this week with Warwick's Engines to Repair and a lot of Damage done to His Customers Race Cars not in the Engines though over the Weekend.

28th January - Downtown Regatta

28th January - Downtown Regatta 4.10pm

Official Times

David Alexander did not have to make his final run with his lap 2 time good enough to win the Eaton Downtown Flying Lap from Malcolm Jamieson
So for the last run of the day Malcom and David went out had a Race with Malcolm showing the speed on the turns but David soon powered past on the straight on lap 2. They were even in the top corner when David broke a Blower Belt.
Awesome end to a good day of racing.

27th January - Downtown Regatta 10.30pm

Allan Dennis is staying in the Critical Care unit at Wanganui Hospital as they monitor his Condition and keep pumping the river Water out of his Lungs. The Boat has a few broken bits and has lost the Cowling and Engine Cover to murky depths of the Wanganui River

Check out the Delaminating Hull that would force Warhorse out of the Race and the regatta

Tony McCaa has damaged his Engine so will not be running in the Flying Lap Tomorrow.

27th January - Downtown Regatta 6.30pm

Allan Dennis was trapped underwater in his Fire Security Services F1 Tunnel Boat after he did a double Barrell roll at the top turn. Allan was well looked after by the rescue crews who did a sterling job to get Allan out of the Boat.
Allan is currently resting up in Wanganui Hospital and has been asking after his Boat.

Warwick Lupton was entertaining but Blew a Motor in his last run. Its the first Motor Warwick has Blown in over 11 years in the big Boats

Ken Lupton ran well and tested his new drive line

David Alexander set the unofficial fastest time in the Hydro's.

Anthony Robertson Ran Strongly in Kiwi F1 Racing Team.

27th January - Downtown Regatta 2pm

Tony McCaa in a test run at Downtown

its a pretty relaxed Day at Downtown we have got a few Races in for Series 3000 and the Feature event the 4 Guys Autobarn North Island Pro-Stock Title which was won by Evan White in Wasted Nights.

Warhorse got out of shape in Turn 1 of the first heat in Pro-Stock later a rather large part of his Boat Hull was pulled from the Water.

26th January - Downtown Regatta & News

Julian Stilwell's Resene F1 Tunnel has a new Major Sponsor Galbraith Sandblasting & Powdercoating Ltd
Galbraith Sandblasting & Powdercoating
P O Box 2069
Stoke
NELSON
Ph 03 547500
The Boat will be present at the Nationals in its new Paint Job.

The Downtown Regatta is shaping up nicely with the River in pristine condition tonight. Spotted a few Boats that hadn't entered the Event so that's even better

We all wonder if Steve Hughes can keep himself from showing up on Sunday as a Late Entry like he usually does.

The South Island Boats will all be arriving in Wellington on the Ferry at 9am so wont be at the Race Venue until after Lunch.

25th January - Downtown Regatta

There is a lot of expectation around the town for the regatta with everyone hoping it goes off well.
The Log Boom is getting plenty of interest it would be placed down at the Cobham(motorway) Bridge end. To be honest though with recent weather and the tides expected we are not anticipating any troubles with the Wood.
on the northern side of the Town Bridge the Council is hard at work building the new riverbank walk this would pretty much extend the Jetty all the way to the Waimarie.

Warwick Lupton has been getting plenty of Flack from David and Ken about how he has no chance of winning. Warwick says ideally there Boats are much more suited to the tighter turns but it takes Brains and Skill to win and that's something he has plenty of. Grant Rivers has also prepped Warwick's Engines to a higher standard and as always its not Warwick's Engines that Blow Up.

There is a rumour that one or more of the Annihilators may end up in the Colombian Cafe Bridge to Bridge King of the River. It would certainly be a sight to see but with especially as Warwick is the Race Starter I guess he does have experience driving with the Flag out of the Boat

25th January - Downtown Regatta

The Programme for the weekends racing is going to be along the above lines with changes possible of course.
There will be get togeathers at The Red on Anzac Parade after Racing. River is in great shape at the moment.

22nd January - Allan Dennis

Allan Dennis will have a new look to his Formula One Tunnel at Downtown Wanganui this weekend as he welcomes on board his new Major Sponsor Fire Security Services.

There will be plenty of Cars for the Adults to browse at with some good deals.

14th January - Mangakino Regatta News

NZGP Member Alan Dennis In California Girls

Allan Dennis had a very good weekend winning both heats of the North Island U/U Title and Today having a very close 2 heats with Luke Sharp in Sierra for the Master of Mangakino Title. they both won a race and came second but the title was given to Allan Dennis based on his faster winning time of Race 2.

I will put up more results later on once I get some official results.
This Regatta was run quite well by the Geyserland Club only downside was the rainy weather on the Saturday. There were of course the usual delays getting the boats in and out of the water on a small Ramp but they had a good system in place and everyone worked well to help out.

Check out the damage on this Idiots Car

I Photographed this on my way to the Regatta this morning. To get this shot all i had to do was crash my car how easy is that! Might have to start a Bucket collection like Team Kiwi Did.

Like to thank all the help I got from Denise Moughan, Steve Mathieson "Midnight" first on scene, Alan Steiner "Misty Blue" for bringing my car back to Mangakino, Kevin Thorburn "Warkworth Motors" for loaning his Tow Truck & Warwick Lupton for going of his way to give me a lift home. All help was very much Appreciated.

Check out my Gallery Page Link below for Pictures of the Regatta
I will put most up on Monday Night

13th January - World Championships Cancelled

David during Testing at Mangakino this afternoon

The 2007 World Championships that were to be held at Karapiro on 3rd & 4th February are now Cancelled due to the lack of interest from Overseas competitors.
To run a World Championship you must have at least one Non Kiwi Entry. We were unable to secure an entry so the Champs are off.
The NZGPHDC will still be running there scheduled regattas with some changes to the programme.
