Dunk Tests
If you haven't done so already, you need to book your time slot
for your CPR and Dunk test. Bookings can be made with Calvin
or Phone 0274.206337.
The first of two Auckland CPR and Dunk tests was held on Saturday
(13th Oct) with Offshore and NZPBA (Hydroplane and circuit racing)
competitors. These NZPBA members attended their very first Dunk
test and it was an experience that many of them have never had
before as being placed within a cockpit, restrained by a harness
and then flipped over to become submerged under water upside down
proved to be a very unique event. Afterwards Marine Medics performed
rescue training in the pool as they introduced two new members
to the team.
Marine Medics will be using Firemen that are Rescue Diver qualified
to manage their new rescue equipment to be hired in the coming
season. This great new equipment will be used to free a Race competitor
that may of become trapped within the confines of a crashed Race
boat. This high tech rescue equipment is carried on Rescue Fire
Trucks commonly referred to as the "Jaws of Life". Two more CPR/Dunk
tests will be held before the first race in Taupo.
Upcoming events
The next Club Meeting is on Thursday, 25th October at the Royal
Akarana Yacht Club, The Landing, Okahu Bay, Auckland.
The Quick Nautical Equipment Auckland Poker Run will be held in
the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf on Saturday 3rd November
2007. For more information and entry forms please contact visit
